Flight Info!!!8 hour trip!?

Hi im travelling from germany to Newark this sommer and its an 8 hour flight..im 23 and a bit nervous!! What are u travelling tips like this to do and what to wear.....i was thinking of having a fews wines to calm my nerves and get me sleepy!!Im even more nervous since of the plane from rio to paris crashed!!!!ahhhhh
