How long does it take someone to be deported after they are found quitly of a felony?

My daughters boyfriend is 18 years old. He has a permanent residency card. He was found guilty of second degree burglary on October 14. They are also expecting a baby in January . Can he be deported? If so how long does this take to make happen. Is there anything we can do to stop it.
