How come the death rate in Libya isn't alot higher?

The death toll is ABOVE a thousand. Speculations say 10000 Libyans dead and 50,000 injured, Activists in Libya say 6000. And that is only in like one week. Mercenaries were also kidnapping dead bodies from hospitals, to cover up the real death rate.
