Do I keep the male and female betta inside the divided mini tank where they can see each other?

I bought a mini plastic tank with a clear divider and put the male and female betta on each side. Do I condition them in that or my 10 gallon tank with the 10 gallon divider and all the neccessary equipment for breeding and if so the 10gal tank do I still use the bowl for the female to put her inside or do i just skip that and put them on opposite sides of the 10 gal divider??
